Distraction-Based Interventions During Implanted Venous Port Catheter Needle Entry: Virtual Reality Application
Sponsor: Uludag University
Summary
This randomized controlled study examined the effect of a virtual reality (VR) distraction intervention during implanted venous port catheter needle insertion on comfort, perceived procedure time, and satisfaction among adult cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Patients were randomly assigned to a VR group, which watched a nature-themed VR video during the procedure in addition to routine care, or to a control group, which received routine care only. Comfort was assessed before and after the procedure; perceived procedure time was assessed after the procedure in both groups; and satisfaction was assessed after the procedure in the VR group. The study was terminated by the investigators due to methodological issues identified during data review.
