Comparative Effects of Cyriax Approach With and Without Mobilization With Movement in Shoulder Restriction With Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy

Sponsor: University of Management and Technology Lahore

View on ClinicalTrials.gov

Summary

This randomized clinical trial compares the effects of the Cyriax approach (deep transverse friction massage) with and without Mulligan Mobilization with Movement (MWM) on pain, range of motion and disability in patients with shoulder restriction due to rotator cuff tendinopathy. Thirty-eight patients (19 per group) will be recruited by non-probability convenience sampling and randomly allocated to two groups. Both groups will receive laser therapy and conventional physiotherapy; 12 sessions over 4 weeks (3 sessions per week). Outcomes (NPRS, SPADI, Angulus Pro smartphone application) will be measured at baseline and at the 4th week and analyzed using SPSS version 24.

Interventions

OTHER

Cyriax Approach with Mobilization with movement

Cyriax approach (deep transverse friction massage, 10-12 minutes per session) plus Mulligan Mobilization with Movement (sustained posterolateral glide of the humeral head during pain-free active shoulder movement; 3 sets of 10 repetitions with 30-second rest), together with laser therapy and conventional treatment, 3 sessions per week for 4 weeks.

OTHER

Cyriax Approach without Mobilization with Movement

Cyriax approach (deep transverse friction massage, 10-12 minutes per session) together with laser therapy and conventional treatment, 3 sessions per week for 4 weeks.
