Comparing Aloe Vera Gel and Clindamycin Gel Added to Scaling and Root Planing for Periodontitis
Sponsor: Suez Canal University
Summary
Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease affecting the tissues that support the teeth. Scaling and root planing is a standard nonsurgical treatment, but additional local treatments may help improve clinical periodontal outcomes and reduce bacterial load. This study compared scaling and root planing alone with scaling and root planing combined with locally applied Aloe vera gel or clindamycin gel in adults with periodontitis. The study evaluated clinical periodontal parameters and anaerobic bacterial counts at baseline and at 1 and 3 months after treatment. The objective was to compare the clinical and microbiological outcomes of the three treatment approaches.
