Anatomy Learning With a 3D Platform on Personal Devices, Augmented Reality, or Traditional Resources

TEACHANATOMY II compared three ways of learning shoulder and hip anatomy among first-year medical students: a three-dimensional (3D) learning platform on personal devices, head-mounted augmented reality (AR), and curated traditional learning resources. Both digital methods used identical 3D models created from photogrammetric scans of dissected body donor specimens. Each participant learned two consecutive anatomy modules with two different methods. Knowledge was assessed with a written test at the end of each module; study time and workload were secondary outcomes.

Application of Extended Reality (XR)-Assisted Computed Tomography (CT)-Guided Localization in Extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) Bypass Surgery

This study will evaluate the application of a metaverse-based surgical simulation platform in extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) bypass surgery. The study population will include patients with moyamoya disease or chronic cerebral ischemia who are scheduled to undergo EC-IC bypass surgery. Before surgery, preoperative brain computed tomography images will be imported into the metaverse surgical simulation platform. During surgery, extended reality technology will be used to provide precise localization of the relevant vessels, including both the donor and recipient arteries. The primary objective is to assess the localization accuracy of this platform. The study will also investigate whether this technology can facilitate a minimally invasive surgical approach and improve surgical safety.

Exploring the Effects of Augmented Reality Educational Videos on Anxiety in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Catheterization

This study investigates the effectiveness of augmented reality educational videos in improving anxiety among patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. The study participants were patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. The control group received routine care, which included standard paper-based educational materials for cardiac catheterization. The experimental group received routine care in addition to viewing cardiac catheterization educational videos through an augmented reality (AR) application. The Visual Analog Scale for Anxiety (VAS-A), the anxiety subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS-A), and physiological indicators were used to assess participants' subjective and objective levels of anxiety. Assessments and measurements were conducted at three time points: before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and within 6 hours after completion of cardiac catheterization. Due to the characteristics of the HADS-A subscale, it was administered only at two time points: before the intervention and within 6 hours after completion of cardiac catheterization. The main research questions addressed in this study are: * What are the differences in anxiety levels among cardiac catheterization patients based on their basic characteristics? * How effective is the AR intervention in reducing anxiety among patients undergoing cardiac catheterization? * What are the effects of AR intervention on patients' anxiety levels (VAS-A, HADS-A) and physiological indicators before the intervention, after the intervention, and after the completion of the cardiac catheterization procedure?

Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) for Ultrasound-guided Medical Procedures

The study seeks to assess the efficacy of incorporating augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) technology into ultrasound-guided medical procedures such as regional anesthesia and line placement. By utilizing AR/VR devices, the investigators will improve the ergonomics when using ultrasound to guide procedures. The aims are to enhance visualization of anatomical structures and improve procedural accuracy for clinicians. The study aims to evaluate the feasibility, and effectiveness of integrating AR/VR technology into ultrasound-guided procedures, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.

A Low-Cost Balance Training Platform Using Augmented Reality in Neurorehabilitation: a Usability Study

The goal of this clinical trial is to assess the Usability, adherence, acceptance, and security of an augmented reality platform for balance training in patients with balance disorders due to degenerative injuries or cerebrovascular diseases. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Is the augmented reality system usable, acceptable, and safe with good adherence? * Does the system improve the balance in our population? * Participants will be asked to assist at Vall d'Hebrón Hospital, where patients will undergo balance training under the supervision of a physiotherapist three days a week for four weeks. * If the patients meet the inclusion criteria, the intervention will be extended for two more weeks at home.
