NCT07168577
Sleep Quality and Caregiver Burden in Children With Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a lifelong condition affecting movement and posture, often requiring substantial care from family members. Children with CP frequently experience sleep disturbances associated with motor impairment, pain, seizures, and other clinical factors. Sleep difficulties may also be associated with poor sleep quality, psychological symptoms, and increased burden among caregivers. This single-center, observational, cross-sectional study evaluated sleep characteristics in children with CP, caregiver sleep quality, and caregiver burden, as well as their associations with functional status and caregiver psychological symptoms. The study included 61 children with CP and their primary caregivers. Eligible children were aged 2-18 years. Children's sleep characteristics were assessed using a 33-item parent-reported questionnaire adapted from the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), which was not identical to the validated Turkish CSHQ. Children's functional characteristics were evaluated using GMFCS, MACS, and CFCS. Caregiver sleep quality, caregiver burden, and psychological symptoms were assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), respectively. The study was designed to examine associations among child sleep characteristics, caregiver sleep quality, caregiver burden, and psychological well-being.

Buddy-Up Dyadic Physical Activity Program for Persons With Dementia and Family Caregivers
The global cost of dementia is over 818 billion, and a further rise is expected in the next decade. While family caregiving is the backbone of the formal care service, promoting "living well with dementia" needs to extend to a dyadic perspective to address the needs of persons with dementia (PwD) and their caregivers. Unique to dementia caregiving, imbalanced exchange in the assistance, interaction, relationship and autonomy between the partners in a care dyad always challenges their social interaction and relationships. Such eroding dyadic dynamics not only worsens the mental health of caregivers, but also compromises the quality of caregiving, fosters more dementia deterioration, and eventually complicates the caregiving process. Nevertheless, least attention is directed to dyadic dynamics in promoting living well with dementia. Partner exercise is designed in a way which requires collaboration of two members to enable the workout of each other. In addition to the benefits of exercise on dementia symptom control and caregiver's stress management, partner exercise provides a meaningful encounter to encourage reciprocity, collaboration and relationship closeness within the care dyad. This is a sequential mixed-method study including a multicenter RCT to evaluate the effects of the 16-week enhanced BUDPA and a descriptive qualitative study to explore the care dyad's overall engagement experience and perceptions. The study will be conducted in 8 elderly community centres operated by four NGOs. The primary aim of the study investigates the effects of a 16-week enhanced BUDPA program on the health and dyadic dynamic of the persons with dementia and their family caregivers (Objective 1-3). The secondary aim explores dyads' overall experience in program engagement, particularly in terms of perceived benefits, challenges, and experience in self-directed practice (Objective 4). The primary outcomes include PwD's cognitive function and caregivers' mood status. We hypothesize that the 16-week enhanced BUDPA program will be more effective than usual care immediately post-test (T1: week 16) and 3 months (T2: week 29) and 6 months thereafter (T3: week 42) in: 1. improving cognitive function, NPS and HRQL of persons with mild to early-moderate dementia. 2. improving the affect, positive aspects of caregiving, and HRQL of family caregivers. 3. improving the dyadic dynamic between the person with dementia and family caregiver in a dyad.

Effect of Artificial Intelligent-based Training and Benson Relaxation Exercises on Caregiver Burden and Stress Levels in Caregivers of Patients With Parkinson's Disease
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of artificial intelligence-supported training and the Benson relaxation exercise on the care burden and stress levels of caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease. In the study, caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease will receive training on caring for people with Parkinson's disease and on the Benson relaxation exercise. The training sessions will be conducted using an artificial intelligence-based module. Participants will be randomly assigned to three groups: a training group, an exercise group, and a control group. A caregiver information form, the Modified Hoehn and Yahr Scale, the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale, and the Caregiver Stress Scale will be used to collect pretest data from all participants during the initial interview. The training sessions for the experimental group will last 4 weeks. No training will be provided to the control group. Four weeks later, the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale and the Caregiver Stress Scale will be used to collect final test data from the experimental and control groups. The hypotheses related to this study are as follows: * Artificial intelligence-supported training provided to caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease affects the burden of care. * The Benson relaxation exercise provided to caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease affects the burden of care. * Artificial intelligence-supported training provided to caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease affects stress levels. * The Benson relaxation exercise administered to caregivers of people with Parkinson's disease affects stress levels.

AI-Supported CBT-Based Psychoeducation for Caregivers of Individuals With Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that affects the diagnosed individual and the family members involved in the care process from a biopsychosocial perspective. The course of the illness, the recurrence of symptoms, and the high level of care required can increase the burden on caregivers and make it difficult for them to express their emotions. Structured psychoeducation and cognitive-behavioral interventions have been reported to be beneficial for caregivers in managing these challenges. The aim of this study is to develop an AI-supported psychoeducation program based on a cognitive-behavioral approach for caregivers of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and to evaluate the program's impact on caregiving burden and the level of emotional expression. The six-week program will cover topics such as the caregiver role and burden, schizophrenia, the thought-emotion-behavior cycle, recognizing and expressing emotions, effective communication, setting boundaries, seeking support, signs of relapse, and crisis planning. Content based on scientific literature will be evaluated by experts. Artificial intelligence will facilitate interaction with the content, participation in activities, the application of skills, and structured feedback. The system will not provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, or personalized treatment recommendations; participants will be referred to appropriate healthcare services in situations requiring professional evaluation. The study will be conducted using a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups. A total of 88 caregivers will be recruited, with 44 assigned to the experimental group and 44 to the control group. The program will be administered to the experimental group, while the control group will receive routine care. Data will be collected using the Caregiver Descriptive Information Form, the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale, and the Emotional Expression Scale. A Program Evaluation Form will also be used for the experimental group. The program to be developed is expected to reduce the caregiving burden on caregivers and improve their ability to express emotions. It is anticipated that the findings will contribute to psychiatric nursing practice, the development of AI-supported psychoeducation programs, and the strengthening of psychosocial support provided to caregivers.

Thrive at Home: A Virtual Reality Social Intervention for Older Adults
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether a virtual reality (VR) based social platform can improve mental health and social connection for older adults who receive in-home care. Specifically, the study aims to determine if the VR program reduces loneliness, depressive symptoms, and boredom while increasing social connection and well-being among older adult participants. It also explores whether access to the VR program reduces caregiver burden and depressive symptoms for family caregivers. Researchers will compare an immediate-start group to a waitlist control group to assess whether the VR program improves outcomes compared to standard home care alone. Both groups will eventually receive the intervention. Older adult participants will use a VR headset at home to join group activities three times a week. These sessions include social activities with local peers and live-hosted group activities. A family caregiver or home care professional may be present during sessions if needed for support. Over a 12-week study period, older adult participants will complete three surveys assessing their mood, social connection, and well-being. Family caregivers of participating older adults are also invited to join an optional caregiver substudy. Caregivers who enroll in the substudy will not participate in the VR activities themselves, but will complete three surveys at the same time points over the 12 weeks to share their own well-being and caregiving experiences.

Psychological Resilience and Quality of Life Among Caregivers of Patients With Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic psychiatric disorder that requires long-term care management, placing family members who serve as informal caregivers under substantial psychological, physical, and financial strain. While caregiver burden, anxiety, and depression are well-documented challenges in this population, psychological resilience can serve as an essential protective buffer against chronic stress. This study aims to evaluate the levels of psychological resilience and Quality of Life (QoL) among family caregivers of patients with schizophrenia compared to a matched control group of caregivers of healthy individuals. This observational case-control study will be conducted at the Neuropsychiatry Department (inpatient wards and outpatient clinics) of Assiut University Hospital in Assiut, Egypt. Primary informal caregivers aged 18 to 65 years who reside with and care for a patient clinically diagnosed with schizophrenia (DSM-5 / ICD-11 criteria) for at least 6 months will be compared to matched caregivers of healthy individuals recruited from the community. Participants will undergo structured face-to-face clinical interviews to assess: * Quality of Life: Evaluated across physical, psychological, social, and environmental domains using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF). * Psychological Resilience: Measurement of individual coping ability, personal competence, and adaptability under stress. * Caregiver Burden: Quantified using the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). * Psychiatric Distress: Clinician-administered assessment of anxiety severity via the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) and depressive symptoms via the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D). The findings aim to identify sociodemographic and clinical predictors influencing caregiver well-being and provide evidence to guide targeted psychosocial support and intervention programs.
