Itchy Scalp Biomarkers Exploration

This is a single-center, cross-sectional, observational clinical study to investigate the clinical attributes and lipidomic signatures of itchy scalp with and without dandruff, aiming to validate the biological distinctiveness of pure scalp pruritus. A total of 132 female participants were enrolled and allocated to three cohorts (44 participants each) based on scalp pruritus and dandruff status. Clinical scoring, instrumental biophysical measurements, self-assessment questionnaires, and lipidomic signatures were analyzed and compared across groups.

Neurophysiological and Sleep-Related Effects of a Cosmetic Shampoo and Conditioner in Adults With Scalp Discomfort

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether regular use of Nizoral® Daily Prevent shampoo and conditioner can improve scalp comfort, sleep experiences, mood, and overall well-being in adults who have scalp discomfort and difficulty sleeping. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does using the shampoo and conditioner improve scalp comfort and reduce the impact of scalp discomfort on daily life? 2. Does using the shampoo and conditioner improve sleep experiences and how rested participants feel? 3. Does using the shampoo and conditioner affect mood and other measures of well-being?. Participants completed a one-week period without hair products, followed by two weeks of using the study shampoo and conditioner at least three times per week. During the study, participants: 1. Attended weekly study visits. 2. Answered questions about their scalp comfort, sleep, and daily experiences. 3. Wore a wrist-based sleep tracking device throughout the study. Completed weekly questionnaires about sleep and scalp health. 4. Took part in non-invasive brain activity measurements during study visits.

Antidandruff Lotion Mediating Microbiome Rebalance

Edit Brief Summary: To evaluate the NaP lotion effect to decrease dandruff scoring and microbiome rebalance. Detailed Description: Dandruff is a common scalp disorder affecting almost half of the population of any gender and ethnicity. Skin microflora, in particular Malassezia genus, plays a key etiological role which was demonstrated in many studies. Malassezia restricta was found as the major fungal species present on the scalps with or without dandruff; while the two main bacterial species found on the scalp surface were Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Dandruff seems correlated with a higher incidence of Malassezia restricta and Staphylococcus epidermidis and a lower incidence of Cutibacterium acnes. Also, the link between dandruff and a higher level of scalp surface lipoperoxidation has been recently described. In fact, dandruff scalp surface is also characterized by higher amounts of squalene monohydroperoxide (SQOOH) and malondialdehyde. MDA is a late biomarker derived from sebaceous unsaturated free fatty acids. Some bibliographic elements suggest that these lipid biomarkers could trigger dandruff. The main objective of that clinical study is to study the effect on dandruff of a leave-on formulation of anti-fungus NaP associated with anti-oxidant VitCG versus vehicle and versus reference leave-on anti-fungus alone Octopirox, all associated with a neutral shampoo.
