Evaluation of the Rapid Diagnostic Test SsRT+ for Strongyloides Stercoralis

The goal of this performance study is to determine if the diagnostic accuracy of the SsRT+ for the diagnosis of S. stercoralis infection meets the minimum requirements defined in the WHO target product profile. The study does not involve patients, but rather the analysis of samples stored in the local biobank.

Controlled Oxygen Desaturation Study of the Neonatal Wireless Transmission System

This study aims to test the oxygen saturation component of the newly developed NeWTS monitoring system and compare readings from NeWTS to a traditional wired clinical monitor. It is important the investigators do this study in healthy adults as part of the development of this system, to make sure the oxygen saturation readings are accurate and before NeWTS is used in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU).

Use of Apple Vision Pro as Virtual Monitor for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures

This study evaluates whether the Apple Vision Pro (AVP), a head-mounted display device, can be used as a virtual monitor for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Participating surgeons wear the Apple Vision Pro instead of viewing a traditional operating room monitor while performing their normal cases. The main goals of the study are to assess: (1) visualization quality (how is the visualization quality when compared to using a traditional monitor), (2) ergonomic characteristics (ergonomics such as neck pain, back pain, shoulder discomfort and when compared to using a traditional monitor), (3) task-load index (NASA-TLX workload while using the device), and (4) feasibility (whether cases can be completed successfully using the device). The study team hypothesizes that using the Apple Vision Pro will provide superior visual resolution and improved ergonomics compared with viewing on a standard 32-inch 4K boom-mounted operating room monitor. After each case, surgeons rate their experience across these outcomes based on their previous experience of using a traditional monitor.

PIVO Use for Blood Cultures in the Emergency Department

The investigators will implement a protocol for use of the PIVO device for blood culture collection in the emergency department. This protocol utilizes the device in various scenarios to reduce needlesticks while allowing for accurate and appropriate assessment of potential pathogens in the bloodstream. The study team will train staff on use of the device then monitor utilization and contamination rates among emergency department patients.
