An Observational Study to Evaluate Treatment Patterns in High, Very High and Extreme Cardiovascular Risk Patients With Hypercholesterolemia, Including Familial Hypercholesterolemia
TRAP-HC is a multicenter, observational, longitudinal, prospective study designed to evaluate real-world treatment patterns and lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) management in patients with hypercholesterolemia, including familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), who are at high, very high, or extreme cardiovascular risk. Approximately 2,500 adult patients will be enrolled across up to 15 Italian LIPIGEN network centers and followed for 12 months as part of routine clinical practice. The study aims to assess LDL-C goal attainment according to current European guidelines, evaluate changes in lipid profiles over time, and investigate treatment adherence, persistence, and therapeutic modifications in response to clinical needs. Data collected during routine visits will include lipid parameters, cardiovascular history, concomitant therapies, safety outcomes, and patient-reported adherence measures. By providing real-world evidence on the management of hypercholesterolemia in high-risk populations, the study seeks to identify current gaps between guideline recommendations and clinical practice and to support optimization of cardiovascular risk reduction strategies.

The Effect of Providing Genetic Risk Information on Lifestyle Behaviors in African Americans
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major and persistent health disparity for African Americans. Linking GAINS is a randomized pilot and feasibility study designed to evaluate whether receiving genetic risk information early in a community-based CVD risk reduction intervention improves engagement and health behavior change. Sixty African American adults from the Baton Rouge metropolitan area will be recruited and randomized to a Genetically Unblinded (GU) group or a Genetically Blinded (GB) group. All participants will complete a 14-session behavioral intervention delivered over approximately 16 weeks, including culturally responsive education, nutrition and cooking sessions, physical activity training, group support, and community-based health resources. The GU group will receive genetic results and genetic counseling early in the intervention, while the GB group will receive genetic results and counseling after the behavioral intervention and end-of-study assessment. The primary endpoint is intervention engagement measured by attendance. Secondary outcomes include physical activity, dietary intake, body mass index, blood pressure, genomic orientation/knowledge, and perceived racism. Exploratory/moderator analyses will examine whether social determinants of health, including income, food insecurity, health literacy, occupational prestige, and experiences of racism, influence intervention engagement and behavior change.

A Phase III Study to Assess the Effect of FDC Laroprovstat/Rosuvastatin Compared With Laroprovstat, Rosuvastatin and Placebo on LDL-C in LLT-naïve Patients.
This is a study to evaluate the effect on LDL-C and the safety and tolerability of FDC laroprovstat/rosuvastatin in LLT-naïve patients. Laroprovstat is a small molecule that reduces the amount of LDL-C in the blood. Laroprovstat and FDC laroprovstat/rosuvastatin are being developed for the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia.

Arizona CEAL: Linking Social Care With Healthcare Systems to Address SDOH
The goal of the Arizona Community Engagement Alliance (AZ-CEAL) will be to combine social care with healthcare programs. The study will be connecting selected patients from clinics with trained community health workers (CHW) who will assist participants in getting the help that is needed for their health such as transportation needs, accessing healthy food, health information, accessing good health care, job opportunities, and housing. The study will collect information from both the patients and the health care systems to test how effectively the care plan works over time.

Efficacy of Lactobacillus Mucosae DPC6426 on Blood-lipids
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and morbidity in the EU. Among the recommendations to avoid heart disease is the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, by ingesting a cardioprotective diet and if necessary via the use of drugs such as statins. Low consumer compliance with dietary recommendations and the expense and side effects of drug therapy for many consumers, aligned with increased consumer acceptance of foods with additional health benefits has led to an opportunity for functional foods in the heart health area. The global market for foods with heart health benefits in the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Japan and Australia in 2009 was €10.84 billion (Leatherhead Food International). In apilot study in 10 mildly hypercholesterolaemic (≥5mmol/L and \<7.5mmol/L) male adults, who were administered Lb. mucosae DPC6426 daily for 6 weeks, resulted in an increase in ratio of HDL to total cholesterol from start to end of the study. Therefore, this Lactobacillus mucosae strain may lead to the development of novel functional foods and supplements with potential cardioprotective properties. Lb. mucosae DPC 6426 was benchmarked against plant sterol-esters, oat beta glucan and other probiotics strains (Lb. reuterii, NCIMB 30242) and was found to be more effective than oat beta glucan and Lb. reuterii, and similar in its effect on cholesterol as plant sterol esters. Subjects were invited to participate in this study as they gad hypercholesterolaemia (defined as cholesterol between 5.5 mmol/L and 7.9 mmol/L) The duration of your participation in this study is approximately 15-17 consecutive weeks.
