Testing the Timing and Application of Virtual Reality Distraction During Knee Injections in a VA Pain Clinic

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether virtual reality (VR) can be added to routine knee injection appointments at a VA outpatient pain clinic without slowing down or disrupting clinic operations. The study will enroll 45 adult veterans who are scheduled for a knee injection at the Atlanta VA Arcadia pain clinic. The main questions it aims to answer are * Can a VR headset be set up and used during a knee injection with minimal time disruptions? * How many patients agree to take part, how many need to stop using the headset early, and how satisfied are patients and clinicians with the experience? Researchers will compare patients who wear a VR headset during their injection to patients who receive the usual injection without VR. This will show whether VR may change anxiety, time spent thinking about pain, satisfaction, and memory of the procedure. Participants will: * Be assigned by chance to one of two groups. Two out of every three participants will use VR, and one out of every three will receive usual care only. * If in the VR group, wear a headset showing a virtual environment with little motion. A research team member will place the headset before the needle goes in and remove it after the injection is finished. * Receive their scheduled knee injection as usual from their clinician. * Complete a short survey right after the procedure. Taking part happens during one clinic visit and takes about 30 minutes. The knee injection itself is standard care and is not changed by the study.

Does Ethyl Chloride Spray Work?

A procedure frequently performed by orthopaedic providers is the administration of corticosteroid injections for the management of various soft tissues and joint-related conditions, such as osteoarthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, and de Quervain's tenosynovitis. While these injections have demonstrated effectiveness in alleviating symptoms, the discomfort associated with the procedure can be a source of anxiety and apprehension for patients. This discomfort arises from the sensation of the needle entering the affected area and the burning sensation induced by the corticosteroid solution.

Traction, Pressure, and Rapid Muscle Release (TPR) Technique During Intramuscular Injection: Effects on Pain and Patient Satisfaction

This study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of the Traction, Pressure, and Rapid Muscle Release (TPR) technique, an innovative method used during intramuscular vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) injections, on patients' pain and satisfaction levels compared with the conventional injection method.

Sweet-Tasting Solution Versus Placebo to Reduce Pain During Local Anesthetic Injection in Children

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether applying a sugar-free flavored sweet solution (SFSS) before local anesthesia helps reduce injection pain in children. The main question it aims to answer is: Does SFSS reduce pain during dental local anesthesia compared to a placebo (plain water)? Researchers will compare the use of SFSS and a placebo to see which results in lower pain scores. Participants will: Receive SFSS or placebo before local anesthesia during two dental visits Have their pain measured using self-reported and observational pain scales Have their heart rate monitored during the procedure

Nonpharmacological Management of Pain and Fear During Hormone Injection in Breast Cancer Patients

This randomized controlled study will compare the effects of the ShotBlocker device and the Helfer Skin Tap Technique on pain and fear during intramuscular hormone injections in premenopausal and postmenopausal breast cancer patients. Ninety-nine participants will be randomly assigned to three groups (ShotBlocker, Helfer, control). All injections will be administered by the same nurse using standardized procedures. Pain will be assessed with the Visual Analog Scale, and fear with the Injection Fear Scale. The study aims to identify effective nonpharmacological methods to enhance patient comfort, support treatment adherence, and improve nursing care quality.
