Sustainability of the Effects of an Adapted Physical Activity Program on Physical Fitness and Psycho-behavioral Factors in Patients With Chronic Diseases

This study aims to determine the extent to which different approaches to adapted physical activity coaching influence physical fitness, psycho-behavioral, and anthropometric parameters in patients with stabilized chronic conditions who have been referred to a Sport-Health Center by their physician. The trial includes four parallel groups, distinguishing between two program durations (3 months or 6 months) and the use or non-use of a smartwatch as a tool for monitoring activity. All participants complete 24 sessions of adapted physical activity (APA), in accordance with the standard practices of the La Musse Sport-Health Center, where the study is entirely conducted. However, the distribution of sessions differs by group: two sessions per week over three months or one session per week over six months. Randomization is stratified by age, sex, and baseline fitness level. Assessments are conducted at the following five time points: enrollment (T0), end of the 3-month program (T1), end of the 6-month program (T2), followed by follow-up at 12 months (T3) and 18 months (T4), to observe the durability of the effects after the supervised phase. The primary outcome measure is improvement in physical fitness and anthropometric parameters, objectively measured using tests recognized for their reliability (TDM6, Sit-to-Stand 30s, Timed Up and Go, Sit and Reach, grip strength, BMI, waist circumference). The secondary outcomes focus on changes in motivation toward health-related physical activity (EMAPS), perceived self-efficacy to engage in physical activity (ECS), and self-reported physical activity (IPAQ-SF), which will be collected regularly throughout the program, more frequently than in standard care. A total of 280 patients will be enrolled to ensure sufficient statistical power, taking into account an anticipated loss-to-follow-up rate over 18 months. Data collection and processing will be pseudonymized and conducted on the secure network of La Musse Hospital.

Instructor Interpersonal Behaviours in Classical Pilates as a Pathway to Improve Blood Pressure Control and Well-being in Hypertensive Adults

The aim of this study is to investigate, during a Classical Pilates programme with participants suffering from high blood pressure, whether supportive communication from the instructor to the participant has any effect on the impact of the practice on physiological (blood pressure) and psychological (retention, motivation, quality of life and life satisfaction) variables, compared with neutral and routine communication.

A Personalized Technology-Based Intervention for Physical Activity

The goal of this study is to learn whether a personalized mobile app can help adults exercise more. The in-house developed app, called iMovin', works with a wireless activity tracker worn on the wrist. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does a personalized version of iMovin' (with features matched to a person's exercise motivations) increase physical activity more than a standard, non-personalized version? Does using iMovin' change how people are motivated to exercise (for example, moving from doing it because they feel forced to, toward doing it because they genuinely want to)? Researchers compared a personalized version of iMovin' to a plaecebo version (with all features available in regularly randomized layouts) to see which one works better at increasing physical activity. At the start, participants will answer a questionnaire about their exercise habits and motivations. Based on their answers, they will be grouped by motivation type and then randomly assigned to either the personalized app or the non-personalized app. Participants: * Wore a wireless activity tracker every day (except while showering, sleeping, or charging it) for the length of the study * Used the iMovin' app on their phone, which syncs with the tracker to record daily activity * Logged at least 100 steps of activity per day * Completed follow-up questionnaires about their exercise behavior and motivation * Attended a first session to sign up, get a tracker, and complete a baseline questionnaire, and a final session to return the tracker, complete a last questionnaire, and be debriefed * Completed questionnaires about their exercise motivation every 28 days for 4 periods.

Study of the Psychological, Physiological and Biomechanical Responses to Trail Running in a Hot, Humid Environment

The determinants of trail performance have been extensively studied, and the results have revealed the significant influence of physiological, psychological and biomechanical parameters. Although there are numerous publications on the physiological responses of thermoregulation to exercise, the impact of heat and humidity on emotional regulation has never been studied in trail running. To the litterature, no study has looked at the evolution of biomechanical parameters during alternating ascents and descents in trail running. No study has compared patterns of motivation between men and women during exercise, even though the hypothesis of a higher level of 'mental fitness' is put forward to explain the very high level of performance of women in long-distance events.
