Effects of Early Physiotherapy Program on the Infants in NICU

High-risk of Infants are defined as one with a history of negative environmental and biological factors that could lead to neuromotor developmental problems. This heterogeneous group encompasses premature babies born at less than 37 weeks, term babies with low birth weight (LBW), or babies with developmental delays due to various causes.Studies have highlighted that individual developmental care, family education, kangaroo care, and early physiotherapy approaches applied to at-risk infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) enhance infant development. However, further research is needed to determine the most effective interventions for infants who are more environmentally at risk and biologically vulnerable. Studies investigating the effectiveness of early intervention methods initiated in the NICU on the motor, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes of premature infants have highlighted that postural control interventions or physiotherapy consisting of developmental care programs implemented in the neonatal period improve motor development in the short term, but parent-implemented motor interventions are more effective in improving infants' cognitive and motor outcomes in the long term. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of family-based early physiotherapy approaches applied to at-risk infants in the NICU on motor, cognitive, language development and developmental outcomes at term age and in the long term (adjusted 3, 6, 9, 12 months).

Impact of Implementing Reach Out and Read in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

This is a pre/post quasi-interventional study with two arms. First, a baseline cohort of parent-infant dyads admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) were enrolled and surveyed at three timepoints (admission, discharge, and one-month post-discharge) to characterize baseline habits, attitudes, and barriers toward shared reading in the NICU in the absence of a shared reading program. Reach Out and Read (ROR) in the NICU, a shared reading program modified from the national ROR outpatient program to the NICU setting was then implemented. Following program implementation, a subsequent cohort of parent-infant dyads admitted to the NICU were enrolled (the "ROR" cohort) and surveyed at the same three timepoints. Feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of ROR NICU to promote shared reading in the NICU were evaluated.

Sleep Improvement Therapy Affects Pregnancy Outcomes in Chinese Singletons and Twins by Improving Sleep Quality

During pregnancy, the physical and psychological changes of pregnant women, hyperemesis gravidarum, uterine compression, frequent urination, hip or pelvic pain, back pain, leg cramps, gastroesophageal reflux, changes in mental state, and even changes in lifestyle, habits and tastes may affect the sleep of pregnant women. Due to the coexistence of physiological, psychological, social and other complex factors during pregnancy, the incidence of sleep disorders in pregnant women is relatively high, up to 50%, and shows an increasing trend with the increase of gestational week. Not only seriously affect the quality of life of pregnant women, but also may lead to a variety of pregnancy complications, and even lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes. Therefore, early identification, timely diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders during pregnancy are important measures to improve or even reverse adverse pregnancy outcomes. Although sleep disorders are more common and seriously harmful during pregnancy, people lack of understanding and attention to such diseases, and often regard them as normal clinical manifestations of pregnancy and neglect diagnosis and treatment. Studies have shown that maternal sleep disorders are associated with hypertensive disorders during pregnancy, preterm birth, and gestational diabetes. Current research objects mainly focus on single pregnancy, twin related research is less. The purpose of this study is to explore the perinatal sleep health of pregnant women with twin pregnancies, reduce the complications of pregnant women with twin pregnancies and improve the pregnancy outcomes of mothers and infants by improving sleep quality.
