NCT03429036
Biospecimen Procurement for Head and Neck Disorders
Background: Researchers want to learn more about head and neck disorders. Understanding these disorders could help them find better treatments. To do this, they are collecting tissue samples for research. Objective: To create a repository of tissue samples and data to better study conditions of the head and neck. Eligibility: People who had or will have tissue samples taken because of a head or neck disorder. They must be ages 3 and older and not pregnant to join Part 2. Design: Participants will be screened with a questionnaire, medical history, and physical exam. Part 1. Participants will give permission for any of their tissue samples leftover from private care or other research protocols to be used. If participants tissue did not contain normal tissue or if they have a condition that suggests a genetic issue, they will be invited to join Part 2. Part 2: Participants will have additional samples collected. These could be: * Blood: Blood is drawn through a needle in the arm. * Cheek swab or brushing: A cotton swab or small brush is rubbed inside the cheek. * Saliva: They rinse their mouth with water and spit into a tube or cup. * Skin biopsy: They are injected with a numbing drug. A biopsy tool removes a small piece of skin. * Mucosal biopsy: They are injected in the mouth with a numbing medication. A small piece of tissue from the inside of the cheek is removed. Participants samples will be used for future research, including genetic testing. ...

The Importance of Mucosal Screening in the Prevention of Oral Cancer.
Patients attending the Department of Oral Mucosal and Periodontal Diseases at the University Dental Center of the Medical University of Warsaw who provide written informed consent will be invited to participate in the study. Participation will begin with completing a short, anonymous questionnaire. The questions will focus on factors that may increase the risk of developing oral potentially malignant disorders and oral cancer, such as tobacco use, alcohol consumption, dietary habits, chronic diseases, and other health-related information. Next, a comprehensive oral examination will be performed by a qualified dental hygienist according to a standardized examination protocol. The examination will include assessment of the lips, cheeks, gums, hard and soft palate, tongue, floor of the mouth, and throat. The oral mucosa will be evaluated for its appearance, colour, moisture, and the presence of any abnormalities, such as white or red patches, ulcers, erosions, nodules, or other lesions. A palpation examination of selected lymph nodes in the head and neck region will also be performed. During the visit, oral hygiene will be assessed using an oral hygiene index. The condition of the teeth and any prosthetic restorations will also be evaluated to identify areas where dental plaque may accumulate or where chronic irritation of the oral mucosa may occur. The final stage of the examination will involve assessment of the oral mucosa using the Oralitest fluorescence device. This is a painless, non-invasive procedure that uses light of a specific wavelength to examine the oral mucosa. The examination takes only a few minutes, requires no special preparation, and the device does not come into direct contact with the oral tissues. Healthy oral mucosa emits a characteristic green fluorescence, whereas areas that may require further investigation appear as darker regions. The result of the fluorescence examination is available immediately after the procedure.

Oral Health, Dento-facial Condition and OHRQoL in Subjects With Mowat-Wilson Syndrome: an Epidemiologic Study.
Mowat-Wilson Syndrome (MWS) is a rare syndrome characterized by the presence of facial gestalt and delayed psychomotor development, variably associated with intellectual disability, epilepsy, Hirschsprung's disease (HSCR) and multiple congenital malformations. Although there is evidence of the presence of dental and craniofacial anomalies in MWS, little epidemiological data is available to date. The goal of this observational study is to assess oral health and dento-facial phenotype of people affected by Mowat-Wilson Syndrome (MWS). In addition, the Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) will be investigated.

Prevalence of Oral Mucosal Lesions Among a Sample of Adult Egyptian Subjects
Oral mucosal lesion represents a wide array of conditions. They may be the result of a local or systemic infection or trauma or the manifestations of a medical condition or neoplastic growth weather primary or metastatic or may be mistaken for a variation of a normal structure. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of OMLs and describe the risk factors for the development of OMLs in a sample of the Egyptian population Research Question :What is the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions and their associated risk factors in a sample of adult Egyptians?

Mucoadhesive Modified-Release Formulations for the Topical Treatment of Symptomatic Oral Lichen Planus
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if a mucoadhesive patch containing clobetasol alone or in combination with resveratrol can reduce symptoms and improve quality of life in adults with Oral Lichen Planus (OLP). The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the patch reduce oral pain and burning sensations? Does it improve the appearance of oral lesions and patients' daily well-being? Researchers will compare: A patch containing clobetasol A patch containing clobetasol and resveratrol A standard clobetasol 0.05% ointment in an adhesive base Participants will: Apply their assigned treatment to the oral lesion daily for 30 days Attend three clinical visits for evaluations and imaging Complete questionnaires about pain, symptoms, and treatment experience
