A Retrospective Cohort Study on the Non-Surgical Treatment of Periapical Inflammatory Lesions With Vitapex Paste
Background: Periapical inflammation is a common clinical condition, classified into periapical periodontitis, periapical granuloma, and periapical cyst. When the inflammatory mass is too large, root canal therapy alone is often insufficient to control the inflammation, and treatment typically requires a combination of surgical procedures. Studies have shown that delivering Vitapex paste through prepared root canals to the periapical inflammatory site can cause the inflammation to spontaneously subside or even resolve completely; however, there is currently limited research on this treatment approach. Objective: This study aims to treat apical inflammation using Vitapex paste, monitor changes in apical inflammation, determine the efficacy of Vitapex paste in treating periapical periodontitis, and provide a theoretical basis for this treatment method. Methods: This study employed a retrospective cohort design, and plans to enroll patients diagnosed with periapical inflammation and showing a distinct periapical shadow at the Department of Stomatology, Jinggangshan University Affiliated Hospital, between February 2025 and December 2027. Following conventional root canal preparation, Vitapex paste will be delivered to the site of periapical inflammation, and CBCT images will be collected at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months post-treatment to monitor changes in the volume of inflammation. Complete resolution of inflammation or a reduction in inflammation volume of more than 50% will be considered a success; a reduction of less than 50% will be considered a failure. If the success rate exceeds 80%, this will indicate that the use of Vitapex as a non-surgical treatment for controlling periapical inflammation is effective, thereby avoiding surgical intervention, minimizing patient trauma, and reducing treatment costs.

"Is Antibiotic Therapy Necessary for Patients Undergoing Extraction of Teeth With Abscess?"
This is a triple-blind randomized controlled trial conducted at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Subbaiah Institute of Dental Sciences, Shimoga. The study enrolls 176 adult patients aged above 18 years belonging to ASA class 1 or 2, requiring intra-alveolar extraction of non-restorable carious teeth with radiographic evidence of periapical abscess of less than 1.5 cm in diameter. Patients are randomly allocated into two equal groups of 88 each. Group A receives postoperative Amoxicillin 500 mg thrice daily for 5 days in addition to standard analgesics. Group B receives only standard analgesics with no antibiotic prescription. The primary outcome measure is wound healing assessed on postoperative day 5 using a modified Landry Wound Healing Index evaluating gingival tissue color, response to palpation, presence of granulation tissue, and suppuration.

Evaluation of Bone Healing After Obturation With Dia-Root Bio Sealer (Calcium Silicate-based Sealer CSBS) Using Three Obturation Techniques
The study aims to evaluate the efficiency of using a Calcium silicate-based sealer (CSBS) with different obturation techniques in treating root canals with apical periodontitis in single visit. Evaluating: 1. Postoperative healing. 2. Preoperative, postoperative pain and frequency of analgesic intake.

Using Platelet-rich Fibrin in Regenerative Endodontic Treatment in Mature Permanent Teeth
This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial effects of injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) in vitro, and to assess the clinical and radiographic outcomes of using advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF+) and i-PRF in regenerative endodontic treatment of mature permanent teeth with necrotic pulp. The study will compare the effectiveness of PRF-based treatment with conventional blood clot-based regenerative endodontics.
