RECRUITING

NCT07164040

Leica Microsystems Sponsored Study to Collect and Confirm Clinical Data on the Performance of the GLOW800 Device When Used in Accordance With Its Intended Use.

This post-market clinical follow-up (PMCF) study aims to confirm the safety and performance of the GLOW800 surgical microscope accessory when used in conjunction with the ARveo8x surgical microscope. The study evaluates fluorescence visualization and image quality during standard surgical procedures in the cerebral vascular area and plastic and reconstructive surgery. It is a non-interventional, observational study conducted in routine care settings across multiple European sites.

ELIXIR MDTM Satisfaction Clinical Trial

This study aims to assess patient satisfaction from the use of the ELIXIR MD™ photobiomodulation (PBM) device in the perioperative period of facial and body reconstructive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The ELIXIR MD™ device is FDA-cleared (510(k), product code GEX) and delivers low-level, multi-wavelength light energy to targeted tissues to promote cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and enhance patient recovery. Participants undergoing elective facial or body plastic surgery will be randomized 1:1 to receive either active ELIXIR MD™ PBM treatment or sham (placebo) treatment. A total of 8 treatment sessions are scheduled: one preoperative session and sessions on POD 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 10, each lasting 20 minutes. A final follow-up visit occurs at POD 30. Patient-reported satisfaction (a satisfaction questionnaire for facial surgery patients and the Body Metrics Questionnaire for body surgery patients), blinded edema and ecchymosis assessments via standardized photography, pain scores (VAS), and time to return to usual activities will be evaluated. The study enrolls 148 participants (74 per arm) with equal representation of facial and body surgery patients.

Usefullness of Peri-operative Tranexamic Acid in Primary Breast Augmentation With Implants.

Tranexamic acid (TXA), as an antifibrinolytic agent, has shown a tremendous interest in surgery by reducing blood loss ; but only few articles have been reported in the plastic surgery scope. The aim of this study was to investigate whether oral administration of TXA reduces surgical drainage in primary breast augmentation using implants.

Preoperative Maxillary Nerve Block and Remifentanil Use in Septorhinoplasty

Septorhinoplasty is generally a prolonged surgical procedure that frequently involves osteotomy, which may lead to increased intraoperative remifentanil requirements. Moreover, it is often associated with significant bleeding due to the dense capillary network of the nasal region, making the maintenance of low-to-normal blood pressure preferable during surgery. Consequently, achieving stable hemodynamics and providing sufficient analgesia throughout the procedure is essential. This study aims to evaluate the effects of bilateral maxillary nerve block on intraoperative remifentanil consumption and postoperative analgesic efficacy in patients undergoing Septorhinoplasty. A total of 90 patients will be included in the study. Forty-five patients (Group M) will undergo Septorhinoplasty under general anesthesia combined with bilateral maxillary nerve block, while the remaining 45 patients (Group N) will receive general anesthesia alone. In the preoperative phase, a bilateral maxillary nerve block will be performed under ultrasound guidance via the pterygopalatine fossa. During the intraoperative period, total remifentanil consumption will be recorded, alongside assessments of hemodynamic stability, sevoflurane consumption, extubation time, intraoperative bleeding volume, and the satisfaction levels of both the anesthesiologist and the surgeon. In the postoperative period, patient satisfaction, pain scores at 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours as well as at 1 month (measured using the Visual Analog Scale - VAS), additional analgesic requirements, and Quality of Recovery-15 (QoR-15) scores (assessed on preoperative day 1, postoperative day 1, and at 1 month) will be evaluated.
