Early Heart Rate Variability and Sleep and Quality of Recovery After Cesarean Delivery

This prospective single-center observational cohort study investigates whether objectively measured early postoperative heart rate variability (HRV) and sleep parameters are associated with patient-reported quality of recovery after cesarean delivery. Women who deliver by cesarean section wear a consumer wrist device (Garmin Vívosmart 5) on the non-dominant wrist during the in-hospital period (first 48 hours). HRV metrics (e.g., RMSSD), continuous heart rate, and sleep are derived from raw beat-to-beat intervals via the Fitrockr platform. Quality of recovery is measured with the validated Turkish Obstetric Quality-of-Recovery score (ObsQoR-11T) at 24 and 48 hours, and subjective sleep with the Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ). The primary hypothesis is that higher early HRV (particularly RMSSD) and better sleep are associated with higher ObsQoR-11T at postoperative day 1 (24 hours). The wearable is used for research purposes only and does not inform any clinical decision; routine care proceeds independently of the study.

Investigation of the Effects of Tele-Yoga Training in Individuals With Lung Cancer Undergoing Lung Resection Surgery

This randomized controlled clinical trial aims to evaluate the effects of an 8-week tele-yoga intervention in individuals with lung cancer who have undergone lung resection surgery. The intervention group will receive supervised yoga sessions via online synchronous video conferencing, while the control group will continue with standard post-operative care. The primary outcome is exercise capacity (6-minute walk test), with secondary outcomes including pulmonary function, respiratory and peripheral muscle strength, physical activity level, dyspnea, fatigue, sleep quality, anxiety and depression, and quality of life. It is hypothesized that tele-yoga will improve physical and psychological recovery post-surgery and may serve as a feasible home-based pulmonary rehabilitation alternative.

Reflexology Hand Massage After Cesarean Section

Background: Globally, cesarean section (CS) rates are rapidly increasing. Although cesarean delivery is a life-saving surgical intervention, it can lead to adverse outcomes such as anxiety, decreased maternal satisfaction, and alterations in hemodynamic parameters. Hand massage, as a complementary nursing intervention, is considered an effective method for alleviating these issues by promoting physiological and psychological well-being. Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of reflexology hand massage and stroking hand massage on anxiety, satisfaction, and hemodynamic parameters in women during the early postoperative period following a cesarean section. Methods: This study is designed as a single-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial. The study population will consist of women who undergo cesarean delivery and are hospitalized in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward of Dokuz Eylul University Research and Application Hospital. The study sample will include women aged 20-35 years who undergo a term, elective cesarean delivery between April 2026 and January 2027, and are at their 4th postoperative hour. The experimental group will receive a 20-minute reflexology hand massage, while the control group will receive a 20-minute stroking hand massage (placebo). Due to the single-blind nature of the study, participants will only be informed that they will receive a "hand massage," without specifying the exact technique (reflexology or stroking). Satisfaction will be measured using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and anxiety will be measured using the State Anxiety Inventory (STAI) before the intervention and 30 minutes after the massage application. Data obtained from the study will be analyzed using the SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics, Version 25) software. Descriptive statistics will be presented as mean, standard deviation, and median (minimum-maximum) for continuous variables, and as frequencies and percentages for categorical variables. The conformity of the data to normal distribution will be evaluated using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. For the comparison of continuous variables between groups, the Independent Samples t-test will be used for normally distributed data, and the Mann-Whitney U test for non-normally distributed data. For within-group comparisons of time-dependent measurements, Repeated Measures ANOVA will be applied if the normality assumption is met, whereas the Friedman test will be used if it is not met. To compare time-dependent changes between groups, a two-way repeated measures ANOVA will be utilized for normally distributed data, and Generalized Linear Models or appropriate non-parametric methods will be employed for non-normally distributed data. Categorical variables will be compared using the Chi-square test or Fisher's Exact test when necessary. The statistical significance level will be set at p \< 0.05 for all analyses.

Post-Operative Physical Activity Monitoring: Algorithm Performance and Clinical Outcomes

The goal of this observational study is to validate physical activity algorithms in post-operative populations through raw accelerometer data collection using the ADI Study Watch 4.5 while in an in-patient setting. The secondary objective of the study is to collect skin temperature, photoplethysmography \[PPG\], Bioimpedance Analysis \[BIA\], heart rate \[HR\], SpO2, and electrodermal activity \[EDA\] using the ADI Study Watch 4.5. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Can a wearable physical activity monitoring device assess patients\' activity levels with higher accuracy and precision compared to traditional physical activity monitoring methods during the post-operative period? * Do wearable devices placed on different body regions perform similarly in tracking physical activity during the post-operative period? * Do post-operative physical activity monitoring algorithms improve patient compliance, accelerate recovery, and reduce hospital stay duration? * Analysis of the activity tracking performance of a consumer device (Apple Watch) in patients after cardiac and thoracic surgery.

Home Monitoring Study for Surgical Patients

This clinical trial is designed to evaluate the accuracy, usability, and patient compliance of the Wellvii VitalDetect, an FDA-cleared (510(k) K231625), Class II medical device intended for non-invasive monitoring of vital signs including blood pressure, pulse rate, and temperature. The study will focus on comparing measurements obtained in a home environment using the device to those collected in a clinical setting, with the goal of validating the device's performance for real-world, at-home use. The Wellvii VitalDetect is a portable, battery-operated, spot-check monitor that uses finger-based technology for most parameters and an infrared sensor for forehead-based, non-contact temperature readings. It is designed for use by adults (18 years or older) in a home environment and is not intended for continuous monitoring. In addition to the cleared vital signs, the device displays other wellness parameter for general health tracking. A smartphone application supports the user experience by delivering usage instructions and data display. The study will assess: * Measurement accuracy compared to standard clinical instruments * Patient ease-of-use and engagement with the device * Adherence to regular self-monitoring schedules * Overall user satisfaction and confidence I home-based monitoring This research will contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting remote patient monitoring solutions and aims to advance the adoption of decentralized technology-enabled healthcare delivery. The study aligns with Wellvii Inc.'s mission to transform healthcare delivery by enabling continuous, connected health monitoring from the home. The ultimate goal is to empower patients and healthcare providers with real-time, clinically actionable health at a that can lead to earlier intervention, improved outcomes, and reduced system burden.

Establishment of Disease Characteristics and a Chinese Medicine Prognosis Risk Model Based on a Large-Scale Database After Coronary Revascularization

This study aims to develop a risk prediction model for patients who have undergone coronary revascularization (such as stent placement or bypass surgery). After these procedures, some patients still experience heart-related problems like chest pain, heart attack, or rehospitalization. This study will enroll 600 patients from multiple hospitals in China and follow them for 12 months. At enrollment and at 12, 24, 36, and 48 weeks after surgery, researchers will collect clinical information (including traditional Chinese medicine symptoms, blood tests, heart imaging) and biological samples (blood and tongue coating). Using artificial intelligence, the study will build a predictive model that combines Western medical data with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics. The goal is to better identify patients at higher risk of future heart events, so that personalized prevention and management can be provided. The study does not involve any experimental treatment or intervention - it is purely observational.

Romanian Validation and Cross-cultural Adaptation of the QoR-15Ro

Optimal postoperative recovery after any surgical procedure requiring anesthesia is essential to achieving high-quality care. The Quality of Recovery questionnaire (QoR-15) was validated by its authors in 2013 in the study "Development and psychometric evaluation of a postoperative quality of recovery score: the QoR-15." This instrument enables a comprehensive evaluation by integrating traditional physiological measures with the patient's subjective perception of their health status. With the consent of the original author, the present study aims to validate the Romanian version of the questionnaire and adapt it to our clinical environment.

Positive Pressure Therapy to Optimize LUNG Function After Heart Surgery

The most common cardiac surgeries are myocardial revascularization and valve replacement or plastic surgery. In the postoperative period of cardiac surgeries, the incidence of pulmonary complications ranges from 30% to 50% and is associated with increased length of hospital stay and morbidity and mortality. To reduce or minimize the occurrence of these complications, respiratory physiotherapy employs positive pressure reexpansion therapies, such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and positive pressure support with positive end-expiratory pressure (PS+PEEP). The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effects of two positive pressure therapies, CPAP versus PS+PEEP, on the incidence of pulmonary complications in patients in the postoperative period of myocardial revascularization and valve replacement or plastic surgery, with mild to moderate pulmonary dysfunction. The main question it aims to answer is: Do patients in the immediate postoperative period of myocardial revascularization or valve replacement/plastic surgery, exhibiting mild to moderate pulmonary dysfunction, experience a comparable reversal of pulmonary conditions when treated with PS+PEEP versus CPAP? Participants will undergo the following assessments: spirometry, respiratory muscle strength testing, handgrip strength testing, and electrical impedance tomography. In the immediate postoperative period, participants will be randomized into two treatment groups: • Control Group PS+PEEP - application of 4 sets of 20 repetitions with PS to provide a tidal volume equal to 10ml/kg of predicted body weight, PEEP equal to 10 cmH2O, and inspired oxygen fraction (FiO2) to achieve peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) between 92-94%; • Experimental Group CPAP - application of CPAP at 10 cmH2O with FiO2 to achieve SpO2 between 92-94% for 30 minutes.
