Associations of Respiratory Muscle Strength and Trunk Muscle Mechanical Properties With Dynamic Postural Control

This study will examine the associations of respiratory muscle strength and trunk muscle mechanical properties with dynamic balance and limits of stability in healthy young adults. The research will enroll healthy volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30. Participants will undergo assessments to measure their maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressures, as well as the tone and stiffness of their abdominal and lumbar paraspinal muscles. Additionally, the participants will complete computerized balance tests to evaluate their voluntary weight-shifting capabilities and their stability on a moving surface. Ultimately, the findings will determine whether evaluating these respiratory and trunk muscle characteristics will effectively complement standard clinical balance assessments.

Short Term Effects of Early Respiratory Muscle Training on Respiratory Muscle Strength in Inpatient Acute Stroke

This study aims to determine the early effectiveness of combined high-intensity interval inspiratory and expiratory muscle training in hospitalized patients with acute stroke. Participants will be assigned to receive either combined high-intensity interval inspiratory and expiratory muscle training or conventional diaphragmatic breathing exercises. The main questions this study aims to answer are whether the combined high-intensity interval inspiratory and expiratory muscle training can improve: * inspiratory muscle strength, measured using maximal inspiratory pressure; * expiratory muscle strength, measured using maximal expiratory pressure; * chest expansion, measured using thoracic expansion; and * the ability to sustain speech on a single breath, measured using the single-breath count test. Researchers will compare changes before and after the intervention between the two groups to determine whether combined high-intensity interval inspiratory and expiratory muscle training provides greater early improvement than conventional diaphragmatic breathing exercises in hospitalized patients with acute stroke.

Comparison of Pulmonary Functions and Respiratory Muscle Strength Between Children With Hearing Impairment and Healthy Peers

This study aims to compare pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength between children with hearing impairment and their healthy peers. Hearing plays a critical role not only in communication but also in cognitive, sensory, and psychomotor development. Children with hearing impairment may experience balance and coordination problems, vestibular dysfunction, and reduced muscle strength, which may negatively affect respiratory function. Although several studies have evaluated pulmonary function in children with hearing impairment, research investigating respiratory muscle strength in this population is limited. To our knowledge, no peer-reviewed study has directly compared respiratory muscle strength between children with hearing impairment and healthy controls. This study will compare spirometric parameters and respiratory muscle strength measurements between children with hearing impairment and age-matched healthy controls.

Respiratory Function and Athletic Performance in Professional Soccer Players

This prospective observational study aims to investigate the relationship between respiratory function and multidimensional athletic performance parameters in professional soccer players. The primary hypothesis of the study is that soccer players with enhanced respiratory function and superior respiratory muscle strength will exhibit optimized motor performance outcomes and shorter (faster) reactive reaction times. Investigators will evaluate respiratory muscle strength, spirometric pulmonary functions, dynamic balance, core and abdominal endurance, and reactive visuomotor reaction times during a single testing session within the competitive season.

Effect of Digital Incentive Spirometry Training in Healthy Adults

This prospective single-group pre-post study evaluated whether digital incentive spirometry training using the TryBreath system could improve pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, exercise capacity, and symptom scores in healthy adults. Participants completed a 3-week training period with app-recorded adherence and were assessed before and after the intervention.

Effects of Expiratory Muscle Training Added to Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Patients With Bronchiectasis

This randomized, single-blind, parallel-group controlled trial aims to investigate the effects of expiratory muscle training added to standard pulmonary rehabilitation on respiratory muscle strength, pulmonary function, cough effectiveness, exercise capacity, dyspnea perception, and quality of life in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. Eligible patients aged 18-70 years with stable disease will be randomly assigned to either a pulmonary rehabilitation-only group or a pulmonary rehabilitation combined with expiratory muscle training group. Outcomes will be assessed at baseline and after completion of the intervention period.
