Pharyngeal Mucosal Conditioning to Prevent Postoperative Sore Throat in Septoplasty Patients With Severe Nasal Obstruction
Postoperative sore throat (POST) affects 21-65% of patients after endotracheal intubation and is among the most common complaints after general anesthesia. Patients presenting for septoplasty with severe nasal obstruction (NOSE score ≥55) are habitual chronic mouth-breathers, having bypassed nasal air conditioning for months to years preoperatively. This produces a documented state of pharyngeal mucosal dehydration and inflammation that precedes any surgical event - making these patients a distinct high-risk subgroup for POST that has never been identified or studied. This double-blind RCT will test whether a simple, low-cost multimodal pharyngeal mucosal conditioning strategy - nebulized 0.9% normal saline (5 mL over 15 minutes, 30 minutes before induction) combined with a water-soluble lubricant gel applied to the endotracheal tube - reduces POST incidence and severity compared to standard care (sham nebulization plus plain water on the ETT). 105 adults aged 18-60 years with NOSE score ≥55 scheduled for elective septoplasty under general anesthesia will be randomized 1:1. The primary outcome is POST incidence at 1 hour post-extubation assessed by a blinded PACU nurse. Secondary outcomes include POST severity (VAS 0-10) at 1h, 6h, and 24h; hoarseness; dysphagia; PONV; time to first analgesic; and preoperative pharyngeal mucosal hydration measured by the Modified Schirmer Test.

Video Laryngeal Mask vs. Endotracheal Tube in Septoplasty
This single-center, prospective, observational, comparative study evaluated airway management using the SaCoVLM™ video laryngeal mask airway (VLMA) and a conventional endotracheal tube (ETT) in adult patients undergoing elective septoplasty under general anesthesia. The airway device was selected by the responsible anesthesiologist as part of routine clinical practice, without randomization. The primary outcome was airway blood contamination assessed at the end of surgery. Secondary outcomes included hemodynamic responses, ventilation parameters, airway device placement characteristics, recovery time, surgeon satisfaction, and postoperative airway-related symptoms. Distal tracheal blood contamination was assessed using flexible bronchoscopy in both groups. Postoperative sore throat, dysphagia, cough, and hoarseness were evaluated during recovery and at predetermined postoperative intervals. Comparative analyses of postoperative symptoms were limited to the first 12 hours because 24-hour follow-up data were incomplete.

Study of the Biomechanical and Histological Properties of Septal, Auricular, and Costal Cartilage in the Context of Optimizing Total Nasal Reconstruction
The purpose of the study is to understand the biomechanical properties of septal cartilage as well as the cartilages used in nasal reconstruction and to identify them histologically.

Anesthesia Type and Postoperative Sleep Quality in Septoplasty
This prospective observational study aims to evaluate the association between routinely applied anesthesia techniques and postoperative sleep quality in adult patients undergoing septoplasty. Patients will receive either total intravenous anesthesia or inhalational anesthesia according to standard clinical practice, without any intervention by the investigators. Postoperative sleep quality will be assessed using the Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire on postoperative days 7 and 15. Secondary outcomes include postoperative pain intensity, opioid consumption, and postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Effects of Methods on Dry Mouth After Septoplasty Surgery
It was planned to investigate the effects of two different methods on early dry mouth after septoplasty surgery. The data of this study, which is planned to be conducted experimentally, is planned to be collected at Gönen State Hospital between 2025-2026. Patients who are scheduled to undergo septoplasty surgery and present with septum deviation constitute the universe of the study. The research sample (n: 63) was determined using the Power analysis G\*Power v3.1.9.7 program by taking the sample study as reference. However, considering the data losses (dropouts) in similar studies, when the missing data rate was taken as 20% , the sample size was determined as 81 patients. Patients who were informed about the study and volunteered to participate in the study (n: 81) and met the inclusion criteria of the study will constitute the sample group. 3 groups were determined in the study as intervention groups (group 1 and group 2) and control group (group 3). Patients who meet the preoperative criteria will be randomized into one of three groups after surgery. Data will be collected using the Patient Identification Form, General Patient Follow-up Form, Nasal Obstruction Symptom Assessment Scale (NOSE), Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scoring expressed by the patient to measure mouth dryness and satisfaction, "Safety Protocol for Thirst Management in the Immediate Postoperative Period" (SPTM), Oral Mucous Membrane Integrity Assessment and Follow-up Form - Oral Assessment Guide (OAG). 3 groups will be created in the study. 5 ml of ice water will be applied to one group that will receive intervention, the other group will be given water at normal room temperature, and the control group will receive standard clinical care and will not be treated. As a result of the evaluation made with SPTM in the first 30 minutes after the surgery, the dry mouth of all patients included in the study (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3) who meet the conditions will be evaluated before the application, starting from the first 30 minutes after the surgery and at 60 - 90 - 120 - 150 - 180 minutes. In the study, all patients (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3) will be evaluated for dry mouth before the application. The data obtained as a result of the study will be analyzed with a statistical package program. In the evaluation of the data in the study, descriptive statistics and parametric or non-parametric tests will be applied depending on whether the data show a normal distribution. In comparisons, p\<0.05 value will be considered statistically significant.
