Testing the Effectiveness of the Turkish Nurses' Earthquake Management Model

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to learn whether an education program based on the Turkish Nurses' Earthquake Management Model improves earthquake preparedness and earthquake intervention competence among nurses working in public hospitals in Türkiye. The model was developed from the experiences of nurses who worked during the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes and covers the pre-earthquake, during-earthquake and post-earthquake phases. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does model-based education increase nurses' earthquake preparedness? Does model-based education increase nurses' earthquake intervention competence? Are these gains maintained three months after the education? Researchers will compare an intervention group, which receives the model-based education, with a control group, which receives no education. Participants in the intervention group will complete a 13-session online video-based education program (about 15-20 minutes per session) through a university learning management system within 30 days. All participants will complete the Earthquake Preparedness Scale for Nurses and the Earthquake Intervention Competence Scale before the education, after the education and at a three-month follow-up.

Promoting Interventions for Climate Change to Upscale Resilience in District Badin

The PICCTURE trial is a cluster randomized controlled study which will be conducted in District Badin, Pakistan, to evaluate the effectiveness of community-based interventions in improving resilience to climate-related hazards. The study compares community-led adaptation and resilience strategies and community interventions integrated with primary healthcare engagement against a control group. The objective is to determine whether these approaches improve household-level resilience, adaptive capacity, and health-related outcomes in a coastal, climate-vulnerable population.

The Effect of Health Belief Model-Based Disaster Education for Parents of Children With Special Needs on General Disaster Preparedness Beliefs and Disaster Preparedness Levels

This study aims to evaluate the effect of a Health Belief Model (HBM)-based disaster education program on general disaster preparedness beliefs and disaster preparedness levels among parents of children with special needs. Children with special healthcare and developmental needs are particularly vulnerable during disasters, and parental readiness plays a critical role in mitigating risks. The study is designed as a quasi-experimental (or randomized controlled) interventional trial with an intervention and a control group to determine whether structured, model-based training improves preparedness behaviors and disaster beliefs among parents.

Effectiveness of an Audiovisual Disaster-Education Intervention on Disaster Risk Perception and Preparedness Belief Among Senior High-School Adolescents

This cluster-randomized controlled trial tests whether a short, standardized disaster-education video improves two psychological precursors of disaster preparedness among senior high-school students in a hazard-prone district of West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Twelve intact classes at one senior high school will be randomized 1:1, stratified by grade level, either to view a purpose-built audiovisual disaster-education module (approximately 20 minutes, shown twice in a single classroom session) or to view an attention-matched general adolescent-health video of similar length on an unrelated topic. Randomization is at the class level to reduce contamination between students, and the individual student is the unit of analysis. All students in a participating class view the video allocated to that class; a randomly drawn subsample of twelve students per class, 144 in total, completes the study questionnaires. Two co-primary outcomes are measured in every participant. The first is disaster preparedness belief, measured by the General Disaster Preparedness Belief (GDPB) scale. The second is disaster risk perception, measured by the Disaster Risk Perception Scale (DRPS). Both are collected at baseline before allocation, immediately after the session, and again four weeks later. The intervention and both instruments are grounded in the Health Belief Model, which predicts that raising perceived threat contributes to readiness to act. An exploratory mediation analysis will test whether change in risk perception explains part of any effect on preparedness belief. After the four-week assessment, control classes are offered the full disaster-education intervention.

Disaster Nursing Education in Family Health Centers

This study examines the effect of a training program based on the Jennings Disaster Nursing Management Model on disaster preparedness perception, self-efficacy, and resilience among nurses working in family health centers in Hatay, Turkey. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which will receive a 14-week structured training program, or a control group, which will not receive the training during the study period. Preparedness perception, self-efficacy, and resilience will be measured before and after the intervention using standardized questionnaires. The study aims to determine whether this training improves nurses' readiness to respond to disasters in primary health care settings.

The Effect of Basic Disaster Awareness Education on Disaster Literacy and AnxietyLevels in Adolescents

This study aimed to determine the effect of basic disaster awareness education on adolescents' disaster literacy and earthquake anxiety levels. A pre-test post-test randomized controlled experimental study was conducted at two middle schools in Erzincan between April-June 2026. A total of 128 adolescent students aged 10-14 (64 intervention, 64 control) were included. Basic disaster awareness education was applied to the intervention group in 3 weekly sessions of approximately 40 minutes each. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Disaster Literacy Scale for Adolescents (AYAOÖ, range: 29-145, higher = better literacy), and the Earthquake Anxiety Scale (DKÖ, range: 12-60, higher = greater anxiety).
