Artificial Intelligence Assisted Teaching of Structured Nursing Care According to ERAS Protocol

This study evaluates an AI-supported case-based educational approach for teaching nursing care of gynecologic oncology patients according to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. This single-center, parallel-group randomized controlled trial was conducted during the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year with third-year undergraduate nursing students who had successfully completed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing course and its related clinical practice at a public university in western Türkiye. A total of 76 students were randomized in equal proportions to the AI-supported case-simulation group or the control group using block randomization. Six participants were lost to follow-up because of withdrawal or incomplete data collection forms, and the final analyses included 70 students (35 in each group). Data were collected before and after the intervention using the researcher-developed ERAS Protocol Nursing Care Knowledge Test and the Multidimensional 21st Century Skills Scale. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were used to summarize participant characteristics and study variables. Baseline characteristics were examined using independent-samples t-tests for continuous variables and chi-square tests for categorical variables. Intervention effects were evaluated using 2 × 2 mixed-design analysis of variance (ANOVA), with time (pretest and posttest) as the within-subjects factor and group (AI-supported intervention and control) as the between-subjects factor. The principal effect of interest was the Time × Group interaction, indicating whether changes from pretest to posttest differed between groups. The same analytical approach was applied to ERAS knowledge, the total 21st-century skills score, and its subdimensions. Effect sizes were reported using partial eta squared (partial η²), and statistical significance was set at p \< .05.

VIDEO LEARNING FOR EMPATHY, ETHICS AND FAMILY WITNESSED RESUSCITATION

This clinical trial (randomized controlled experimental study) aims to learn about the effects of presenting the family-witnessed CPR process from a patient's perspective through 360° virtual reality and 2D video within second-year nursing students. The primary question(s) / hypotheses it aims to answer are: * H1: Will the content validity ratio of the developed scenario be above 0.80? * H2: Is the increase in empathy scores (pre-test/post-test difference) of students in the 360° VR group significantly higher compared to the 2D video and control groups? * H3: Is the increase in ethical sensitivity scores of students in the 360° VR group significantly higher compared to the 2D video and control groups? * H4: Is the change in perception scores toward family-witnessed CPR more positive in the 360° VR group compared to the other groups, and is their mean SUS (System Usability Scale) score at or above the acceptability threshold of 70? * H5: Is the VES (Video Engagement Skale) score of students in the 360° VR group significantly higher than that of the 2D video group? Researchers will compare the 360° immersive video (360° VR) group, the 2-dimensional (2D) video group, and the control group to see if there are effects on empathy, ethical sensitivity, perception of risks-benefits of family presence, self-confidence regarding family presence, video engagement, and system usability. Participants will be asked to: * Watch the scenario reenactment involving a family-witnessed CPR process, recorded via a 360° camera (in either 360° VR or 2D format, depending on their assigned group). * Complete data collection tools consisting of the Introductory Information Form, "Jefferson Scale of Empathy", "Ethical Sensitivity Questionnaire", "Family Presence Risk-Benefit Scale and Family Presence Self-Confidence Scale", "System Usability Scale (SUS-TR)", and "Video Engagement Skale(VES)".

Virtual Reality to Reduce Stress Among Nursing Students Before Final Exams

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether a brief virtual reality (VR) relaxation session can reduce pre-exam stress levels among undergraduate nursing students enrolled in nursing courses. The participant population includes male and female nursing students, aged 20-26 years, who are preparing to take their final practical exam. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does a 10-minute, self-selected VR relaxation session significantly reduce stress levels immediately before a high-stakes clinical exam? 2. Are certain types of virtual environments (e.g., beach, island, space, ocean) more effective than others in promoting relaxation? Researchers will compare pre- and post-intervention stress scores to see if the VR experience results in a statistically significant reduction in perceived stress. Participants will: * Complete a brief pre-intervention stress survey (e.g., using a validated scale such as the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory). * Explore several calming VR environments (e.g., tropical beaches, islands, deep ocean, space, savanna, and tourist destinations). * Choose one preferred scene based on personal relaxation preference. * Engage in a 10-minute immersive VR relaxation session. * Complete a post-intervention stress survey to assess any changes.
